Then and Now

Then, Mary at one or two weeks old:Now, Mary at 6 months:That cow outfit is for 0 to 3 months. It makes me laugh that it fits her perfectly. It's so fun, and a little sad, to see how Mary is growing! Oh, and Mary's pediatrician prescribed some vitamin/fluoride drops for her. I was really afraid she wouldn't like them, since one of the pharmacists I work with said it tastes bad. But Mary, used to the taste of infant tylenol which she loves, opened up wide. She liked it though. In fact, she wanted more! Sorry Mary, you'll have to wait til tomorrow.

So as of Saturday, Mary is officially six months old! And to celebrate we took her to see a very special someone and get the best presents ever, shots! I actually didn't get to go to her appointment today because I had to work. But Brent was able to take her and have some daddy daughter bonding. He said she did quite well. She was cranky but only because we had to wake her to get ready for the appointment. So on to her updates!

awww, what a mini she is. But no worries everybody. Her pediatrician says she is growing well, following a good growth pattern. Trust us when we say that she loves to eat. In fact, anytime she sees her bowl she starts waving her arms around like a mad woman. I sometimes joke that she was born to be a tamborine player. You put a rattle in her hand and she plays a sweet beat. Sorry there are no pictures to post right now. This is a late post and it is time for sleep!

feels like summer

Today is a gorgeous day! It's up to almost 80 degrees and we are loving the sun and warmth. I was so excited to put Mary in some of baby shorts I got for her a couple weeks ago. I think she really enjoys having bare legs and no socks.

However, we aren't really enjoying the warm day. I'm actually really lucky to get such happy pictures of her at all because Mary, I'm pretty sure at least, is teething. She's been a little crankier than usual the past couple of days. Yesterday was really bad. She was inconsolable for long times and just shedding these big beautifully tragic tears. So I have been dosing her with some infant tylenol. And while that was working, she was fine. Today, she woke up in a happy mood like usual, although two hours earlier than normal so man was I tired. I thought maybe it wasn't her teeth but some kind of bug. However, this afternoon, shortly after taking her outside for a bit (which she did enjoy), she started crying and stuffing her fist in her mouth. I'm thinking it's to try and relieve some of the pain. Plus, she doesn't have a fever whatsoever. I got some baby orajel for her. So after giving her more tylenol and swabbing on orajel, she finally started to calm down. During these fits of pain she does not want to be put down or left alone at all. So I was rocking her and humming to her, trying to distract her from the pain. All of a sudden she was asleep. All that crying must have wiped her out. So she's calm, for now. I sure hope a tooth comes soon from all of this pain!

I'm a mom this year...

So I'm going to put this link up for anyone who decides they would like to shower me with gifts (*cough*brent*cough*). Plus, in the off chance they pick me at random, coolmompicks will give me a gift too! I'm sure it won't happen, but I have to try.

Our sweet pea loves sweet peas!

So today was a big day for Mary since we decided she was ready to make the next step in solid foods. That's right, baby food! Our pediatrician, as well as Valerie, suggested giving vegetables and "green" baby food first, as opposed to fruits and the "yellow" baby food, so that Mary wouldn't acquire a taste for the sweeter things and have a hard time eating other stuff. I decided to start with peas, which I was a little anxious about. Would Mary like it? Would I be able to stomach smelling it? Yes and yes! I tried just a little taste on the tip of her spoon and she slurped it up without a second thought. Before I knew it, she was opening wide in anticipation of the peas! I tried getting a good picture of her, but it's hard to do it with one hand. Too bad Brent had to work. Though I laughed when I told him that since I have to work tomorrow he is the lucky one to change the first real stinky poop. He did not laugh back.

It is getting increasingly hard to change Mary. Within seconds of stripping her down, she is all curled up in anticipation of some toe sucking. After Mary's bath tonight I was trying to get her dressed and she just was not having it!
Once again, this is why I need an SLR so that I can actually snap a picture of Mary without the now trademark blur of her little fists and feet as they fling around.

Well, unfortunately for me, I got sick right after my birthday. I guess it's better than being sick on the actual day. It still stinks being sick though. I'm a little worried that Mary might be a little sick too. Either that or she is starting to teeth more because she had a hard time sleeping last night, is kind of irritable, and has a runny nose. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Mary, who loves any kind of controller, has discovered her love of our Nintendo Gamecube controller. Now she has to sit in my lap in order to get close enough to it, otherwise she gets ANGRY!

Even though Mary still isn't quite tall enough for her excersaucer, she loves it. She especially love the yellow toy because she can grab a hold of it and stick it in her mouth.

And last but not least: For the past week or two, Brent has been repeating "dada" to Mary over and over. The other morning she woke up saying "dada, dadadadada." It was hilarious! Obviously she doesn't realize what she is saying. Even still, it is really cute. Now I can tell Brent "she's calling for you."
